My Guys - NJ Portrait Photographer

There is a general belief that being a photographer means easily getting portraits of loved ones. When it comes to photographing my sons this can't be further from the truth. Getting the three of them together in the same place at the same time in order to take photos is quite a feat most likened to winning the lottery. Fortunately for me I hit the "lotto" on Sunday when they all agreed to be home so that we could take pictures. I couldn't be more thrilled because they really are my favorite guinea pigs....errr... models.

With the gear bag in tow and a promise to make them ice cream sundaes (you'd think I was dealing with toddlers) we headed off to Fort Mott State Park. As we tried to head into the parking lot we were stopped short by a half-way extended gate with a sign that read "Park is closing." Are you kidding me? It wasn't even 4pm and it was one of the nicest days in regard to weather since we started getting hit with Nor'easters every week. A quick change of plans had us heading to our local community park and off we went to trudge through still soaked ground in order to reach my favorite tree.

I've added the photos in slideshow format this time around. Below is the result of 2 hours of hanging with my guys. At 23, 19 and 14 getting photos is a rare treasure. I'll cherish these for a long time.

Samuel - NJ Newborn Photographer

Marian called me back in January to inquire about maternity photos as a gift for her husband's birthday... which was a week away. My usual turnaround is one week from shoot to gallery for photos but I instantly liked her and I was determined to get the photos done and delivered to her in time for his birthday. She only wanted five shots or so.

I always point out in my blog entries that I'm lucky because every client I meet is fabulous. Marian was no exception. She's one of those people that you're drawn to because you can sense that she's got a sweet spirit. Those five shots turn into 35 artistic portraits that we both thought would make a wonderful gift for her husband as they both awaited the arrival of their first child due in February. An intimate gift and something special between them I agreed that none of the photos would be used on my site. As much as I really love showing off my work I love my clients more.

February has come and thankfully gone because wow did we ever get a lot of snow!! During our shoot in January, mom-to-be Marian said she just felt that her son would arrive early and mama's always know! Meet Samuel, who arrived 2 weeks early right in between the two biggest storms in the history of our area! With all the snow on the ground and cold weather this little bundle of love was all the warmth needed for such wonderful parents. Welcome to the world Samuel and thank you for allowing me to take your first portraits! I'm looking forward to watching you grow!! Congratulations to your very proud parents as well! They did good!!

Bring some Spring!! NJ Portrait & Wedding Photography

I don't know about you but I'm ready to stop digging my car out of the snow and start digging in potting soil so that I can grow beautiful plants that produce delicious eats. Up until this winter we've experienced rather mild weather. My husband Jason and I have both been waiting for the snow-shoe to drop and it did with a record breaking thump. Today we'll get more snow but thankfully the accumulation if any won't be anywhere near what we've had dumped on us in the past 2 weeks.

With all the snow still on the ground due to the cold temperatures my husband and I have been enjoying our time inside because of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Canada finally ended the drought and brought home a gold metal on home turf. Congrats to them! We screamed and cheered as Apolo Ohno AND J.R. Celski brought home silver and bronze medals in the Short Track speed skating event. That final race had us on our feet and we just couldn't believe it when the Korean skaters fell. Heartbreaking for Korea but exhilarating for the U.S.!

In between our Olympic watching moments I've been working on adding new card designs to the Christmas card design line-up. It's only February but I'm honestly excited. Did you know that along with Christmas photo cards you can also purchase cards for many other occasions? That's right! For all of the newly engaged couples out there from Valentine's Day 2010 I've got some great Save-The-Date designs along with new goodies for couples how book their wedding photography with Betzography™.

I'm nearly finished with my studio sample album from Kiss Wedding Books and can't wait to order it. I'll be sure to post some photos as soon as it arrives. In the meantime I wanted to provide a set of links to not only other albums that are offered but to photo card designs available for order through Betzography.

Hooked on a feeling! - NJ Wedding photography Betzography™

You might have noticed that my website has visually begun to lean toward wedding photography and there's a definite reason behind it all. It's no secret that I'm passionate about my photography and the details of everyday life. So much has changed in the past year in regard to where I want to take my business. Many photographers have thriving businesses where they do everything from newborn photos to wedding photography and for a long time I felt that portrait photography: maternity-newborn, children-family would be the one thing I focused on but my feelings have changed.

I do love taking portraits of kids because kids are just too much fun but my heart is hooked on the absolute rush of photographing weddings. Yes it involves very long days and instead of shooting 150 photos in an hour that have to be processed a photographer shoots 1K+ for a wedding. But in those thousands of photographs there are love stories just waiting to be told.

Photography like medicine has many different fields. I'm definitely done with general practice and I'm committing my time and talent to the specialization of wedding photography. Guess it's time to buy some really comfy shoes. :)
